PETALING JAYA, 18 Dec: PKR claims that a former top police officer has property assets around Kuala Lumpur worth nearly RM3 million and PKR has asked the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) to issue a statement on the matter.

PKR Utility Bureau Chairman, Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri said that search results from his party found that an individual who held the highest office in the service of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has various assets from the lowest level to luxurious properties such as flats and condominiums in the city starting 1999.

Wangsa Maju, Taman Sri Rampai, Taman Sentosa, Taman Miharja and Sri Kenangan were among the areas identified involving the police officer.

“The issue is related to asset misappropriation as of how a top police official has so many undeclared assets as he should have. This search, recorded in 1999, is what we have found and the assets only involves Kuala Lumpur and has yet to cover other states such as Malacca among others.

“We asked DBKL to give and answer regarding it and how can a high ranked officer have assets beyong expectations,” he said today in a media statements at the PKR headquarters.

Also present was the PKR Information Chief Dr Muhammad Nor Manuty.

The former police is said to have all these assets under his wife’s name in the form of housing units of low to luxury values.

Mohd Yahya said that his side is questioning the issue because it is so difficult for the public to buy or own houses in the city and they have to wait for a long time for the housing while the said individual has obtained the housing easily and in large quantities.

“Most of the assets owned are flats to luxury condominiums with enormous values. We have brought up 10 assets owned by the individual at this time.

“The annual value recorded is from as low as RM4,800 to RM25,000 based on 1999 values. Currently, it has increased many times with some of these assets being worth up to RM400,000 to RM600,000,” he said.
