PETALING JAYA, 23 JAN: PKR Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is ready to cooperate if called to give evidence to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) regarding the issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah who were granted citizenship to enable voting in the elections.
He stressed that he does not have any role in the matter when he was the Deputy Prime Minister and that it can be checked based on records through the National Chief Secretary to identify ministers who were involved.
“I have no problem at all.
“You can check all files and when I became the acting (Prime Minister), I was not involved, be it being present at meetings or briefings, regarding the granting of citizenship,” he said at a press conference at the PKR headquarters.
Anwar also criticised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who allowed the process of granting citizenship to continue till now.
Previously, the Deputy Chairman of the Liaison Body of Umno Sabah, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak challenged Anwar to tell the truth about this case to the Royal Commission of Inquiry which is tasked with investigating this matter.
