BATU CAVES, 27 JAN: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has been carrying out development continuously for the interest if the people, of all ethnicities and not merely as a gimmick to win in the upcoming elections.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that whatever that was said or promised, has been fulfilled by the Coalition since taking over the Selangor State Government administration since 2008.
“Pakatan Rakyat has fulfilled promises since 2008.We have proven that we carry out programmes not for the sake of being elected.
“Since 2008, we promised that we will carry out developments for all ethnicities and for the Indian community alone, we have given provisions for schools, temples, places of worship and welfare programmes.
“This is not just for today, but it is an ongoing endeavour,” he said while giving a speech at the Thaipusam Day celebrations here last night.
The celebrations was attended by over 5,000 people including leaders of Pakatan Rakyat.
At the event, the Chief Minister presented that the amount for provisions from the State Government for non-Muslim houses of worship (Hindu) in Selangor was worth RM375,000 and RM927,500 for Tamil schools in Selangor.
He said that the people themselves can compare between PR and Umno-BN for the five period after 2008 and before that, to see which government prioritises the welfare of the people.
“Development is not one day, one month or during the elections.Community development a development that continuous for years.
“PR believes that what is being done is the basis for community development. Use this opportunity for us to pray so that Malaysians from all ethnic groups will be developed properly, without corruption, with no abuse in power and to provide welfare for the people,” he said.
