SUBANG JAYA, 2 Jam: Subang Jaya Assemblywoman Hannah Yeoh today questioned the actions of Malayan Railway Berhad (KTMB) that plns to close the Subang Jaya KTM station temporarily without advance notice to the public.

She said that to date, KTMB has failed to explain the issue to the public, in fact they did not give any official notice to taxi drivers and the public.

“On December 5, I held a meeting with the Subang Jaya Taxi Association to discuss several issues to improve the infrastructure of the station. Based on these discussions, we have put forward some suggestions and an official letter has been sent to KTMB.

“Unfortunately, on 13 December, KTMB declared that all those suggestions had to be rejected because the Subang Jaya station will be closed this month to carry out the LRT extension. When asked when the station would be closed or whether any notice was given, they did could not answer,” she said.

In relation to that, Hanna stressed that KTMB has been urged to give a full notice for the public’s reference as a large number of residents use the station to get to work.

She said that KTMB also needs to provide an alternative plan to transfer users to other stations as soon as the station is closed, which is soon.

“If KTMB wants ro close the station, they must prepare a plan so that users, including taxi and bus drivers, do not face difficulties,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Subang Jaya Taxi Drivers Association, Che Ei Mohamad hopes that KTMB will reconsider their decision to close the station as it would affect their daily income.

He said that this would also cause small stall owners in the area to face losses and lose their means of livelihood.

“Most of the traders and taxi drivers have been in the area for more than 15 years. We feel betrayed because we were not called upon for discussion. I hope that KTMB will provide clarification on this matter in the near future,” he added.
