SUBANG JAYA, 31 JAN: Malaysian Railways (KTMB – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad), a public transportation company should not be used as an Umno-BN propaganda tool by only placing ads that promote the coalition on the train carriages.
The actions clearly shows that Umno-BN is using KTMB as a tool for political interests when Selangor DAP’s request to rent the same ad space for DAP and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) did not receive the same treatment.
According to Selangor DAP Treasurer, Hannah Yeoh in a press conference today, her department had previously sent a letter expressing DAP and PR’s interest to rent advertising space on the KTM commuter trains.
“On January 8, we had sent a letter to the President of KTMB, Datuk Elias Kadir by hand and the letter was received with a copy of the receipt of acknowledgement as proof of receipt.
“The aim was to hold a meeting with the officer on duty to get price quotations for the advertisement space, as BN has.
“Unfortunately, there was no response from KTMB,” said Hannah who is also the Subang Jaya Assemblyman.
Hannah also questioned KTMB’s refusal to answer questions that have been raised before, which is whether KTMB charges any fee to Umno-BN for their advertisements.
On the same issue, Hannah also blaster Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed to be wiser in distinguishing between the post of Selangor BN Coordinator and KTMB Chairman, both posts are held by him.
It was previously reported that Umno-BN had conducted their political propaganda through ‘Love Selangor’ advertisements at stations and on KTMB carriages.
