KAJANG, 29 Jan: The Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will undertake the responsibility of ensuring that its de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, wins in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election with a greater majority.
The Selangor PKR Chairman, Azmin Ali, said that the election machinery is ready and waiting for the announcement from the Election Commission (EC).
He said that he had already contacted the Selangor PAS Commissioner, Iskandar Abdul Samad, and will hold further discussions to prepare machinery work with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties.
“We will ensure Anwar’s victory, the Kajang DUN candidate in the by-election, set by the EC, with a greater majority.
“We will also mobilize our entire PKR machinery strength at all levels, in Selangor and nationally, in order to ensure PR’s victory.
“In according to PR consensus, the Selangor PKR will ensure close cooperation with PAS and DAP at all levels to mobilise the PR machinery,” he told the media today.
Azmin, who is also the PKR Vice President, stressed that the main focus is for Anwar to win and all talk regarding the change in Chief Minister is deemed as speculation.
Prior to that, Azmin also challenged Umno to place their number Presidential candidate, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said that the strategy of placing the Opposition Leader as a candidate is to boost public support in the next General Election (GE).
It is also a huge commitment shown by PKR to strengthen support for PR in Selangor and preparation for Putrajaya.
“If Umno is brave to place a candidate in Kajang, do not place MCA, MIC and Gerakan, but Datuk Seri Najib.
“We will eat Kajang satay together. After that, we will fight till the end,” he said.
