HULU LANGAT, 23 July: A total of 500 participants enlivened the Jom Shopping Aidilfitri (Let’s Go Aidilfitri Shopping) organised by the Dusun Tua State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Community Service Centre (CSC) at the Giant Supermarket in Batu 9, Cheras, from Monday to today.
The programme, which took place from 10am to 1pm, received overwhelming response from the community at Dusun Tua, especially the target group, by recording an increase of 200 participants compared to the same programme last year.
The Assemblyman for Dusun Tua, Razaly Hassan, said that participants consists of the elderly, single mothers, the poor and needy, the less fortunate and others identified in the DUN area.
He said that each participant received a RM100 voucher from the Dusun Tua DUN CSC, in addition to it being distributed by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), as well as Local Authority Council Members.
“The Jom Shopping Aidilfitri this time certainly attracted the interest of the community here to participate because they realise that the State Government’s plan is to protect the welfare of the people in Selangor.
“The increase of participants proves that this programme has successfully met its goal, in accordance with the State Government agenda for the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) programme.
“We hope that this donation will help lighten the burden of those celebrating Aidilfitri this year,” he told Selangor Kini.
Also present was the Member of Parliament for Hulu Langat, Dr Che Rosli Che Mat.
Razaly said that the festive Jom Shopping programme is a special event held each year to enliven celebrations like the Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Deepavali.
He said that the Dusun Tua DUN CSC received cooperation from the management of the Giant Supermarket to carry out the Jom Shopping Aidilfitri programme.
