100 days in office Commitment to pursue with even greater vigour the policies set forth for the new administration

On the day of my appointment as Menteri Besar of the State ofSelangor Darul Ehsan I declared that the position of Menteri Besar is not a privilege but a trust from the rakyat carrying a duty with veryheavy responsibilities.

Together with my new Exco, I pledged to carryout this duty with full conviction and dedication.
Today, as I reach my 100th day of office, I say to all of you once again, I am doing my utmost to fulfil that pledge to bring to the people of Selangor government that is transparent, fully accountable and inclusive in allits actions.

As a rakyat-oriented administration, our policies are driven by a firm commitment to economic progress, social justice andthe uplift of the rakyat’s well-being.

As head of the Selangor State government and ultimately responsible for its success or failure, let me assure you that we are committed to pursue with even greater vigour the policies we have set forth for this new administration.

Every effort willbe made to ensure that our economy will remain vibrant with consistentand robust growth. Economic failure is not an option. It will remain steadfastly a business-friendly government with amarket oriented economy.

Social justiceimperatives will continue to prevail and the welfare of the people will remain a priority. My administration will stay focussed on the priorities of health, housing and education pursued with a policy of governance that is clean, transparent and accountable to the people.

Above all, the principle of justice and moderation will be the cornerstone in infusing the approach of the State administration in governing our multi-racial and multi-religious society. The twin imperatives of justice and moderation are essential not just for the umma but for all the people of Selangor.

As Menteri Besar, I must stress that while every effort will be made to safeguard the position and sanctity of Islam as the state religion, fanatical and extremist sentimentswill have no place in our administration. Unity and harmony among all the communities must not be compromised and we will do our utmost to ensure that the principles of justice and moderation will prevail at all times.

Mohamed Azmin Ali,
Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor
