SHAH ALAM, 23 Jan: The Selangor Book Fair 2015 will be different by featuring the Caliph Buskers at the event, which will take place from January 29 to February 8 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.
The group is able to attract the attention of the public when their talent was evident during the 29th Anugerah Juara Lagu and received the best performance award.
Caliph Buskers consist of six members, Fendy (24), Mohd Zaki Ismail (36), Nirwan Zainal Abidin (26), Khairul Azmi Saad (28), Nor Nadira Rubiana (24) and Shahzemeen Abdul Rahman (24).
The uniqueness of Caliph Buskers is that although they are sight disabled, they clearly were blessed by voices and the intelligence to play musical instruments.
The Exco for Youth Generation Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurship Development, Amirudin Shari, said that various other events will be features, including a Star Wars presentation, Muay Thai contest, and lectures from motivational experts Dr Azizah Osman, Prof Muhaya and Ustaz Don.
“According to the record of the 2014 Selangor Book Fair, 300,000 people were there, but with a cultural festival, street fashion, the introduction of the Selangor Super League Team players, the Selangor Plus Run, we target for 250,000 to 400,000 visitors,” said Amirudin.
He said this during a media conference at the Lobby of the Annex Building, Selangor State Assembly, today.
On the 11th day, it will also feature the performance of famous artists such as Tomok, Faizal Tahir, Yasin, Fizo Omar, Pita Hati and many more.
The climax of the festival involved over 80 exhibitors, the famous Indonesian writer, Leila S Chudori, and the launch of the book by the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The annual event also offers a variety of lucky draw prizes such as Ipads, electronic dictionaries and so on.
Apart from the SACC as the main location, various exciting activities will also be held at the PKNS Complex and the SACC Mall.
