SHAH ALAM, 16 Jan: The Selangor Barisan Nasional’s (BN) stubbornness for continuing to leave the position of Opposition Leader empty shows that the party does not respect the principles of democracy practiced by the state government.
The Selangor Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that they should not ignore their right to jointly develop the state.
“This is once again BN’s failure to jointly help nurture the principles of democracy in Selangor.
“Why are they ignoring their rights to jointly help develop the state,” he told reporters at SUK today.
Mohamed Azmin said that the state government has taken the initiative to acknowledge the role of the opposition because it is a well-established democratic system.
However, he said, it depends on them if they continue to be stubborn in not wanting the post.
“It’s up to them. We want the opposition to play a role in the State Legislative Assembly because it is for the benefit of the people not the interests of the party,” he said.
