BY LIZAWATI MADFA

SABAK BERNAM, OCT 6: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali pledged that the State Government will always defend the rights and interests of Muslims and Malays.

He said, a true Muslim leader also has the responsibility to be fair and impartial to non-Muslims.

He said, it is a part of government’s progressive action to defend the right of every citizen across all religion and race.

“Such event, in previous years, has went well without creating any problem.

“It includes strict condition prohibiting Muslims in the previous years,” he said to reporters.

He was referring to the approval of an event involving liquor, to be held in Klang and Petaling Jaya, which allegedly did not receive support from police.

Mohamed Azmin had insisted once again that approval from local authorities are always subject to strict conditions.

“That include approval from the police and other departments such as customs and other technical departments, to ensure safety for all attendants.

“We will approve if the organiser meet all the conditions,” he said.

Previously, Klang Municipal Council (MPK) had approved the ‘Centro Mall German Food & Beverage Festival’ when the organiser had met all conditions Klang Utara District Police Headquarters had given conditional support.

MPK also imposes the main requirement that Muslims are not allowed to attend the scheduled festival, on October 12 and 13.

At the same time, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has yet to approve the application for Oktoberfest 2017 as the organisers did not comply with the requirements.
