SHAH ALAM, 2 Apr: A special assistance fund to maintain roads at low-cost apartment areas will be established, said Chief Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.
He said that the state government is currently researching methods and systems suitable for this purpose using state reserves.
“We cannot use MARRIS provisions because it is bound by guidelines by the Ministry of Finance.
“On the basis of caring for the people, we are ready to help those with low incomes to have better infrastructure,” he said during the State Assembly session this morning.
He was answering a question from Haniza Talha (PAS-Taman Medan) on whether the provisions given by the central government can be used to repair roads at high-rise buildings.
Elaborating, Mohamed Azmin (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) said that the local authorities, in cooperation with joint management bodies (JMBs) have listed the apartment roads that need repair.
“With the list, I believe that the State Financial Officer will present the work papers to obtain provisions,” he said.
