SHAH ALAM, 21 Nov: The Assemblyman for Sekinchan (DAP), Ng Suee Lim, suggested for the bonus pay-out to state government employees to be done before the 2014 school term starts.

Suee Lim said that the bonus is expected to ease the burden shouldered by parents to pay for their children’s various school needs.

“I think that the Chief Minister would not mind because they work hard to ensure the success of the state government in implementing various missions for the welfare of the people of Selangor.

“So I hope that the Chief Minister can announce the bonus pay-out before next year’s school term starts,” he said when debating on the Selangor Budget 2014 yesterday.

Suee Lim also took the opportunity to congratulate that state government’s decision to pay a bonus of one month’s salary to its employees prior to the Aidilfitri celebration previously.

“The Aidilfitri bonus was a lot compared to the RM500 Aidilfitri Assistance given by the central government, but it was long ago and surely the bonus has been spent in preparation for the celebration.

“Therefore, I think that it is appropriate for the government to issue bonuses for its employees,” he said.

Yesterday, when tabling the Selangor Budget 2014, the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim expressed his hopes for employees of the state government to accept the concept the concept of pay increment and bonuses based on performance excellence, efficiency and effectiveness, in line with the best international standards and practices.

The move to introduce the concept was done to ensure the civil servants in Selangor will be more professional, transparent, responsible and have high integrity at all times.
