SHAH ALAM, 15 Nov: The results of the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) showed a significant improvement in performance for Tamil National-Type Schools (SJKT) in Selangor.
The Assemblyman for Seri Andalas, Dr Xavier Jayakumar, said that SJKTs in Selangor, on the whole, received the best results compared to the results of other states.
SJKT Simpang Lima, Klang, received first place at the national level when two of their students recorded the best results in Selangor. Five SJKTs that recorded the best results, with 7As, are SJKT Simpang Lima (63), SJKT Kajang (28), SJKT Batu Caves (25), SJKT Puchong Batu 14 (24) and SJKT Rawang, Selangor (22).
Xavier said that the overall pass percentage is 62.3, which is the best results so far when 398 students received 7As; a significant increase from 321 in year 2012.
He said that Selangor Pakatan Rakyat (PR) proves that providing funding and assistance, as well as continuous efforts in collaboration with four Tamil NGOs; Tamil Foundation, EWRF (Education, Welfare & Research Foundation), CHILD (Child Information, Learning and Development Centre) and HYO (Hindu Youth Council), as well as PTAs (Parent Teacher Associations) are factors that the changes were achieved.
“The good results are also due to the tireless efforts of principals and teachers. Well done and thank you, because without your efforts, these results may not have been achieved,” he said.
