KASE Confident BN Will Not Cancel AES Implementation

SHAH ALAM, 30 Jan: The Anti-Postal Summons Campaign (KASE) stressed that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government will not cancel the implementation of the AES, but will only perform transformations regarding the matter.

This was conveyed by the KASE Legal Advisor, Zulhazmi Shariff, who described the BN government as a liar and is only trying to trick the people.

This is because until now, the government has yet to decide on the status of the implementation of the AES since it was announced by the acting Minister of Transport, Datuk Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, last September and instead, there has been the motion by the Finance Ministry to establish the AES Solution Sdn Bhd to acquire assets from two operators previously.

“The Malaysian Government, under BN, is indeed a liar and is tricking the people. The acting Minister of Transport announced that the AES issue will be solved in the near future, but until now, there is still no solution.

“What there is, is the Ministry of Finance’s proposal to establish AES Solution Sdn Bhd to acquire assets from Beta Tegap Sdn Bhd and ATES Sdn Bhd, two operators of the AES, previously,” he told Selangor Kini yesterday.

He said that until now, there is no progress about the acquisition by AES Solution Sdn Bhd and how they are going to handle AES after this.

“Last September, the government established AES Solution Sdn Bhd to acquire the assets of Beta Tegap Sdn Bhd and Ates Sdn Bhd, and subsequently take over the management of AES from the two aforementioned private companies.

“But now we are questioning the value of the acquisitions by AES Solution because the money belongs to the government, ie the people’s money. Until today, there is still no notification from the government.

“At the same time, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) confirmed that the AES has been handed over to the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), but it has yet to be performed up to today by JPJ.

“All the process of issuing summons and payments of compounds are still being carried out by JPJ. This is all nonsense,” he said.

Regarding the status of summons that are plaguing the recipients Zulhazmi stressed that the summons issued by JPJ has no effect because the Attorney General froze all AES proceedings in court since 18 December 2012 till today.

“If summons do not have to go to court, then the summons have no effect and does not need to be paid even a cent,” he said.
