Selangor to study Southern Taiwan Science Park success

TAINAN, TAIWAN, APR 26:

TAINAN – The Selangor delegation to Taiwan paid a visit to the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) on April 26.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that besides fulfilling the invitation of Tainan Mayor, Dr William Lai, the visit to STSP was important in the effort to develop Selangor Cyber Valley (SCV) in Sepang.

“The approach done by the STSP has made Selangor interested in learning from it to spur economic growth in addition to creating new job opportunities for the rakyat.

“This is because the combination of three parties involving academics, industry players and the government is the key to STSP’s success.

“Therefore, the State Government is studying ways to emulate STSP’s success to develop SCV besides utilising their expertise in organic farming and green technology,” he said.

STSP, with an area of 570 hectares, covers the entire districts of Luzhu, Gangshan, and Yongan and involves the participation of over 45 companies that have created more than 2,000 jobs with an annual output value of NTD 11.1 billion.

It is also equipped with high technology industry including photonic, precision engineering, green energy and innovative medical equipment.

Selangor, through the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) aims to develop Selangor Cyber Valley (SCV) with a focus on smart development, green technology and sustainability. It is worth over RM16.9 billion.

The delegation to Taiwan included State Government Excos, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Amirudin Shari and Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hair, Deputy State Secretary (Development), Dato’ Nor Azmie Diron, Invest Selangor CEO Dato’ Hassan, SITEC CEO, Wong Kai Ping, Central Spectrum CEO, Mahmud Abbas and other technology industry and e-commerce leaders.
