Focus on modern development for rural citizens

SHAH ALAM, MAY 23: The state is actively developing the rural economy through its local-economy modernisation policy by providing job opportunities from various field to the community.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, the rural economy should be prioritised in view of the capacity of Selangor population who still lives in the countryside.

“The economy of rural communities must be modernised by providing job opportunities to the youth without having to force them to move to the city to work.

“Therefore, the State Government is comprehensively raising the quality of life for the rural citizens particularly the people of Sekinchan to a level at par with a modern life.

“Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that the State Government wants the character and identity of people in the village to be maintained taking into account the harmonious and sustainable communal environment,” he said.

He was speaking in a speech welcoming His Royal Highness the Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to Sekinchan as part of his series of official visit to the district yesterday.

Mohamed Azmin said his focus is also on continuous development in the sector of modern agriculture involving farmers in the rural areas.

He said that would close the gap of incomes between communities in the rural area and the city.

“Selangor continue to progress in the manufacturing and service sectors by going further in the high-tech industries such as aerospace, biotechnology and modern farming.

“The farming success is Sekinchan is actually driven by the use of modern farming technologies and methods to harvest more produce to be marketed and commercialised,” he said.
