SHAH ALAM, AUG 31: The spirit of independence is the best platform for the State Government to continue driving its people-centric agendas in developing Selangor to be a progressed nation.
Youth, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development Exco, Amirudin Shari said, development agendas that benefit the people will go on based on the spirit and determination for unity throughout the state.
“This year, Malaysians celebrate its 60th independence day with the determination to retain its harmony and unity while rejecting internal or external elements which try to destroy the country.
“Hopefully this independence will show us how important it is to continue to progress towards a New Malaysia and to drive people-centric agendas for the benefit of independence to be enjoyed by everyone,” he said in a speech.
Meanwhile, Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries Exco, Zaidy Abdul Talib said, people must understand the real meaning of independence, based on the understanding that is free from the influence from any sentiment.
“The real independence is not just being free from being colonized but also to be free in mind and heart from any constraint and to submit in total to Allah,” he said to SelangorKini.
As for the Dewan Negeri Selangor Speaker, Hannah Yeoh, she hopes that the 60th independence day will bring new light to the people of Selangor.
“Happy Independence Day. May Selangor always move forward and a place of hope for the younger generation,” she said.
