150 plantation workers’ children given bus subsidy

BY NORHAYATI UMOR

SHAH ALAM, AUG 31: About 150 plantation workers’ children received bus fee subsidy recently, which shows the State Government is always concern about the requirement on education in Selangor.

The selected students received RM300, and they were from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Ladang Kampung Baru, SJKT Raja Musa, SJKT Sungai Terap and SJKT Ladang Riverside.

The donation was given by MySel Officer, PS Tharma who represented the Poverty, Caring Government and Plantation Workers Exco, Ganabatirau Veraman.

Tharma said the allocation is there for the past several years to protect the welfare of plantation workers’ children.

“The Exco hopes that parents will not misuse the money and that it will help reduce their burden,” he said to SelangorKini.

Meanwhile, Permatang Community Service Centre Coordinator, Rozana Zainal Abidin said, the subsidy will give a positive impact to the needs of the plantation workers’ children.

She said, it is only through education that the plantation workers can improve their quality of life and guarantee a better future for them.

“The main objective of this subsidy to help the children of plantation workers in their commute to and from school.

“This is because the current transportation fees are high and many of these families cannot afford to pay for it,” she said.
