SHAH ALAM, OCT 12: The State Government is considering the proposal to change Skim Ceria to Selangor Smart Life with improvements for the benefit of residents living in apartments in Selangor.
Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco, Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said the State Government has received many feedbacks from various parties regarding this scheme which was introduced since 2010.
“We received proposals and requests from many parties to change Skim Ceria to Selangor Smart Life.
“The State Government is assessing if Skim Ceria can be changed to Selangor Smart Life where it is 100 percent funded by the government,” he said.
The Government created Skim Ceria with the aim to repair damages to joint properties in low-cost and medium-cost flats in Selangor with the State Government funding 80% of the cost and Joint Management Bodies (JMB) taking 20% of the cost.
As for Selangor Smart Life, the State Government would have to fully fund the lift maintenance cost in all flats.
In a different development, he said, although a Commissioner of Building (COB) is a Federal Government’s officer, the guideline on job scope is determined by State Government.
“The Federal Government only send them but all task instructions are made by State Government.
“All the new initiatives are from State Government and I don’t see any initiatives from Federal Government,” he said relating to Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, Tan Sri Noh Omar’s statement, that COB is placed in Selangor local authorities as officer from Federal Government.
He said, the State Government is appreciative of the COB where they are equally qualified to officers from state level.
