Permatang Assemblyman asks permission for TOL application, DUN Coordinator has referred to PTG

SHAH ALAM, 19 Nov: The state government has been asked to give permission for the application of temporary occupation licence (TOL) as there are concerns regarding the status of the land they are occupying.

The Assemblyman for Permatang, Sulaiman Abdul Razak, said that there are some villages that are still deadlocked on the status of their land after the state government made a new policy for the TOL application to be frozen.

“Many TOL land still does not have ownership because most of them live in areas that were previously granted TOL, but under Pakatan Rakyat (PR), TOL cannot be renewed, thus raising concern among those who do not know where to go,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said that some of the villages that are facing TOL problems are Kampung Permatang, Kampung Sungai Yu, Kampung Raja Musa and Kampung Baru Pasir Penambang.

The former Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, during the Selangor State Assembly session on November 26, 2013, said that the state government will not issue the TOL until the land is fully utilised by the owners.

This is because the granting of TOL without proper planning will make it hard for the state government to use the land for other purposes such as road widening and the construction of drains.

Commenting on the problem, the Permatang DUN Coordinator, Yahya Shari, said that he personally referred to the Land and Mines Office (PTG) and found that there was a new decision adopted by the old administration, however the directive has yet to be issued by the Land and District Office.

“I personally referred to PTG and there was a decision by the Exco, but the directive from PTG has not reached the District Office.

“This means that so far, there has not been a decision to grant the TOL,” he said.

He hopes that the new state government administration under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, can grant permission for the TOL application to facilitate the residents and farmers in villages.
