PHSSB’s action in compliance with policy and tenancy regulations

SHAH ALAM, AUG 22: Notices to vacate the Kampung Hicom Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) were only issued to 86 more tenants who are stubborn and yet to go to the management office despite reminders given.

Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco, Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said, Perumahan Dan Hartanah Selangor Sdn Bhd (PHSSB) had previously asked tenants who still have arrears to go to the management office before August 7 to reschedule their repayments.

He said, the State Government denies claim that they chased away residents who fail to pay their rents, as being viralled.

Iskandar said, the news that is going viral on social media is contrary to what really happened.

He said the news is deliberately exaggerated by irresponsible parties to give a bad picture of the State Government.

“However, after notice issued on August 1 to 184 tenants, only 98 tenants went to the management office and agreed to pay their arrears in installments.

“PHSBB is not asking them to pay their rental 100% but to discuss on paying the arrears in installments,” he said in a statement.

He said, PHSSB’s action is in accordance to the policy and tenancy regulations agreed by tenants in their contracts.

Meanwhile, commenting on the cut to water and electricity supplies, Iskandar said that measure was taken when tenants still refuse to pay their rents despite given four reminders.

“To give the best service to Selangor citizens, PHSSB hopes that tenants are always aware and fulfil their responsibilities.

“PHSBB always welcomes any discussion to find a mutually beneficial solution to any problems,” he said.

PHSBB reported that, until June 2017, there were 184 tenants who still have arrears of RM337,075.00 in total.
