HTAR One Stop Crisis Centre records the highest number of violence cases

SHAH ALAM, 5 Mar: The people of Selangor do not have to stay silent if you know of any occurrence of violence or abuse cases around them.

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that victims involved must also be brave to come forward to get help.

She said that victims of violence and abuse, especially women and children in the state, can file a complaint at the One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC) available at every hospital’s Emergency Department.

Once Stop Crisis Centres are full and comprehensive service centres for victims of abuse, rape and domestic violence.

“OSCCs serve to provide emergency treatment, inspection and documentation, counselling, emotional support and temporary shelter to help stabilise the emotions of victims and to allow them to gain peace of mind, thus solving the problem at hand,” she said in a statement.

She said that the role and function of OSCCs are to obtain good feedback and it should be spread to the public to ensure safety.

Based on the 2014 OSCC report, the Klang Hospital received the highest number of cases with 792 cases, followed by the Ampang Hospital with 344 cases and the Selayang Hospital with 300 cases.

Three other hospitals with the OSCC facility are in Kajang, Sungai Buloh and Serdang.
