SHAH ALAM, 19 FEB: The announcement from Tanjong Karang MP, Datuk Seri Noh Omar, that his area will be receiving a new hospital raised questions about the hospital project in Kuala Selangor which was abandoned 13 years ago.
This is because the hospital project in Kampung Sungai Terap in Kuala Selangor should have been the second hospital for the residents in and around Tanjong Karang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
On January 4, Selangorkini reported that the hospital project in Kuala Selangor was left with only a signage saying ‘Proposed Site For Kuala Selangor Hospital’ impaled at the oil palm plantation.
The Permatang DUN (state legislative assembly) Coordinator, Yahya Saari said that Noh did not explain how provisions for the hospital project in Kuala Selangor were spent.
According to him, Noh’s announcement was almost like a repeated promise to the residents.
“To where were the previous provisions channelled to resulting in the people having to wait for years to receive a new hospital?
“Meanwhile the construction plans were announced under the 8th Malaysia Plan in 1998.
“If you consider this elections (GE-13), it would have been (already) the fourth or fifth general election.
“This is not a new promise. What we are questioning is to where was the previous budget channelled to,” he said when contacted by TV Selangor.
In earlier media reports, Noh said that the Federal Government had approved the “new hospital project” which will be built on a site of 60 acres at Kampung Sungai Terap, Kuala Selangor.
In the Selangorkini report, dated January 4, the hospital project was approved in the 8th Malaysia Plan in 1998.
