SHAH ALAM, 10 Nov: A cycling patrol unit, the Ranger Unit, has been established by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to enhance crime prevention and safety around Shah Alam city.
The cycling patrol unit will conduct patrols by cycling around public parks in the city of Shah Alam to help prevent crimes, particularly armed robberies and snatch theft, in addition to enforcing regulations and laws enforced by MBSA.
For starters, 12 bicycle units have been provided to mobilise this unit and the amount of bicycles will be added to strengthen this unit so that patrolling can be expanded to other areas.
This unit consists of MBSA enforcement officers and additional equipment such as bicycle helmets, gloves, front and rear lights, and so on, will be provided.
The launch ceremony was inaugurated by the Mayor of Shah Alam, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor, Mohtar Hani, and was held here at the MBSA Hall in Section 4, Shah Alam.
In addition to that, MBSA will also begin motorcycle patrolling together with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
These efforts will be carried out continuously by MBSA to ensure that public safety and peace is always guarded.
“The joint patrolling is also in line with the formation of the MBSA Auxiliary Police Unit which was established to regulate and control traffic, guard MBSA assets, as well as to patrol with the PDRM,” explained Datuk Mohd Jaafar.
Prior to that, Datuk Mohd Atan inaugurated the MBSA Clean Zone Programme for November 2013.
This is the last Clean Zone programme for this year before the MBSA takes place on 15 December.
