SHAH ALAM, 21 Nov: The state government has been consistent in increasing revenue for current quit rent and has managed to reduce the amount of arrears since 2008.
The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the success is due to proactive actions by the state government, including the enforcement through reminders, the 6A and 8A notices (Land Confiscation) issued by the Land and Mines Office.
Abdul Khalid said that the state government will also introduce new measures in order to maintain the achievement record in increasing revenue from current quit rent while further tax arrears continue to decrease.
“We will require the revision of the rate of quit rent for every ten years in accordance with Section 101, KTN, which will be implemented in 2016.
“The standardisation paper will be tabled by the National Land and Mines Chief Director at the 70th National Land Meeting early in 2014,” he said.
He said this when responding to questions by the Assemblyman for Sekinchan, Ng Suee Lim, on the current quit rent collection here at the Selangor State Assembly session today.
Abdul Khalid (PKR-Port Klang) informed that the state government managed to collect quit rent amounting to RM374 million for all nine districts in 2013, compared to RM335 million in 2008.
Meanwhile, the amount of tax arrears of RM99 million in 2008 has now decreased to RM84 million in 2012.
