60 Earth Hour 2015 across Shah Alam on March 28

SHAH ALAM, 19 Mar: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will hold the 60 Earth Hour 2015 programme aiming to protect the welfare and environmental balance following the worsening global warming.

The programme will be held at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam, starting at 8 pm on March 28.

The Mayor of Shah Alam, Dato’ Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad, said that the campaign aims to create awareness among the general public about the importance of saving with regards to energy consumption.

“The excessive consumption of electricity will accelerate the reduction of energy resources.

“85 percent of electricity in our country is generate through fossil fuels such as natural gas, fuel and coal,” he said when launching the 60 Earth Hour 2015 today.

Combustion of duel will contribute to environmental pollution and cause the problem of global warming or climate change, which adversely affects the environment.

Ahmad Zaharin said that MBSA is also organising the ‘I Will If You Will’ campaign in conjunction with the 60 Earth Hour until April 19.

“MBSA would like to invite all residents of Shah Alam to plant at least a tree in your compound or around your homes.

“Upload a picture with the tree planted and be one of the first 6,000 entrees to win seedlings from MBSA,” he said.
