ABIM asked companies involved with Israel to severe ties

SHAH ALAM, 16 Oct: The Malaysian Youth Movement (ABIM) condemned the constant attacks launched by Israel on Palestinian land that has resulted in destruction and the killing of its people.

Its President, Mohamad Raimi Md Rahim, said that the series of invasions are a violation of human rights that was deliberately committed by Israel on the West Bank and Jerusalem.

He said that ABIM views this matter seriously and has expressed objections by assembling in front of the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

“ABIM urged the Malaysian government to issue a statement condemning the attacks by Israel against Palestine.

“We asked companies in the country that have direct or indirect ties with Israel to severe their ties,” he told Selangor Kini.

As a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Raimi said that ABIM is united and joined the global campaign Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) that is increasing economic and political pressure on Israel.

BDS is a campaign initiated on July 9 2005 involving 171 Palestinian NGOs to support the struggle of its people to boycott, divest and have international sanctions against Israel.

The campaign is also being carried out so that Israel ends its occupation and colonisation of Palestine, providing full equality for the Arab-Palestinian citizens in Israel and respecting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their country.
