SHAH ALAM, 3 Dec: The state government approved the amendment to the motion under the Standing Order 26 (1) for drastic action to combat the spread of dengue for the sake of the people’s quality of health.
The motion was raised by Halimaton Saadiah Bohan (BN-Kota Damansara) was approved unanimously without objection.
Meanwhile, Ng Suee Lim (DAP-Sekinchan) attracted the Assembly’s attention when he supported the motion while likening Aedes mosquitoes as being better than Umno because the species of mosquito does not practice racism.
“I support this motion despite it being raised by the Assemblyman from the opposition. To me, Aedes mosquitoes are far better than Umno.
“This is because Aedes does not practice racism and it is proven when it bites. Aedes does not take race into consideration. Malays, Chinese and Indians, they bite everyone, even regardless if one is from the opposition or the government,” he said, greeted with cheers from other Assembly members.
Meanwhile, Tiew Way Kang (DAP-Teratai), who also supported the motion, proposed for local authorities to be more adamant by not giving a discount in offender’s compounds.
“I ask the state government to instruct all local authorities to be more assertive and not give a reduction in compounds to offenders who cause the spread of dengue.
“Land seizure should also be carried out at project sites that repeatedly commit the offence of Aedes breeding,” he said.
In addition, Way Kang also shared the Aedes prevention initiative which he carried out in the areas under him through the organisation of a contest to hunt larvae.
He said that the approach was open specifically to children to keep track of Aedes larvae in their area of residence.
“Children who find the most larvae will be rewarded. This is an effort to educate children to ensure that their residential area is free from Aedes,” he said.
