AG hands back investigation papers on religious symbol case

SHAH ALAM, 22 Jun: The Office of the Attorney General’s Chambers (ACG) returns investigation papers on the religious symbol gathering case that happened in front of a church in Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya, to the police.

In relation to that, it is understood that the return was done to seek for further explanation regarding the case.

The Selangor Chief of Police, Datuk Abu Samah Mat, said that the information is needed for the aspect of the case and related to the case.

He said that the ACG also has the right to determine the provisions to make charges in court.

Prior to this, it is understood that the police conducted an investigation under the Peaceful Assembly Act and the Penal Code.

In April, over 50 people, including the brother of the Inspector General of Police, Datuk Abdullah Abu Bakar, gathered to protest against the cross symbol in front of the church.
