Berita Harian caught ‘cutting heads off’ PAS Commissioner’s photograph to praise BN in news

SHAH ALAM, 27 May: The Berita Harian newspaper did not practice ethical and professional journalism when they used a photograph of the Perak PAS Commissioner, Razman Zakaria, and cropped out the top part of the picture in a report titled ‘Kerajaan Bantu Lima Beradik’ (Government helps five siblings), which was published yesterday.

Razman, who also realised that his photograph was used in the newspaper, confirmed that the picture was taken a day after the children’s parents, who were involved in a fatal accident, were buried.

“Actually, the photo was taken a day after their parents were buried. We visited the children to hand-over a donation.

“It is our routine to visit anyone who suffers unfortunate events, like the devastating storm that destroyed 12 houses in Ipoh Timur recently, and any other unfortunate incidents, like the one these children faced.

“It is normal for mainstream media to not make room for us, but now, our photograph is being used. What is wrong with the full photograph being shown? It is not like people know who I am,” said Razman when contacted by Selangor Kini.

Razman said the Kampung Changkat Sulaiman PAS Branch Chief also took part in the visit, as well as the Perak Welfare and Community Committee and several others.

In the report titled ‘Kerajaan bantu lima beradik’ in today’s Berita Harian news, the heads of Razman and his delegation were cropped out of the picture to portray a positive report for Barisan Nasional (BN).

Prior to that, a freak accident that happened last Saturday at Jalan Loke Yew, Kuala Lumpur, took the lives of Jafri Mohd Zain, 46 and Noorsalawati Ibrahim, 40, the parents of the five children.
