Bukit Melawati Assemblyman relieved, clogged drain complaint resolved

SHAH ALAM, 28 Jan: The complaint of the clogged drain that caused flash flood at a road near an oil palm plantation owned by Sime Darby at Bukit Melawati was resolved by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).

The Bukit Melawati Assemblyman, Jakiran Jacomah, said that the matter which was raised at the Selangor State Assembly session previously managed to be addressed by the Selangor DID a few weeks ago.

“I see that action has been taken. Now the drain looks good, clean. Even the water is flowing fast. Otherwise, during the rainy season, it becomes waterlogged because it was clogged.

“Now, after the contractors were sent to dig the clogged drain, it has improved,” said Jakiran when contacted by Selangor Kini.

He explained that prior to this the water flowing from the nearby oil palm plantation was stagnant and could not flow properly, making it troublesome to road users in the area.

Jakiran also hopes that the responsible parties continue monitoring areas that become easily flooded when there is heavy rain to prevent similar problems from recurring.
