Chang Khim: Enforce Additional Structure Laws Without Permission

SEPANG, July 15: Beginning next year, individuals involved in illegal dumping activities, operators of cyber cafes and massage parlours as well as building owners involved in illegal additional structure connection will face heavier legal action by the Selangor State Government.

Executive Councillor for Local Government, Studies and Research, Datuk Teng Chang Khim said that the move will be taken seriously by the State Government to curb illegal activities.

“I am conveying this warning to everyone that stern action will be imposed on those who violate laws and regulations.

“The matter has been discussed with all Local Authorities (PBT) across that state and we are studying the laws that are appropriate,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting her with the Sepang Municipal Council (MPSp).

Among the actions to be taken against legal dumping activities is that the individuals involved and the landowners will be taken to court and the compound will be raised.

Meanwhile, for cyber cafe activities, property seizure as well as seizure of premises will be carried out.

In addition, he said that he will give a period of six months to building owners, including owners of restaurants and factories, to demolish additional structures that have been erected without the approval of the local authorities involved.

“We will give them till the end of this year and if they continue to be stubborn, we will demolish the structures and they would have to face the law because there activities would cause damage to roads and other infrastructures,” he said.

During the Selangor State Assembly recently, Teng Chang Khim recognised that there are existing punishments that are ineffective causing these activities to continue.

Therefore, they want to carry out a detailed study to provide a harsher punishment to offenders.
