Daim: BN Government Led by Najib Razak Inefficient

SHAH ALAM, 22 Jan: The former Finance Minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin predicted that BN will lose if the election is held now because the people are angry with BN due to the increase in cost of living.

According to him, the BN government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is not effective and will cause BN to lose power in administering the country in the coming election

“The government has failed to control the issue of rising prices,” he said at an event organised by the Merbok Umno Division here on Saturday.

The former Member of Parliament for Merbok added that the toll rates should not be increased, and instead review the concessions to extend the time period.

“The issue of subsidies that has been enjoyed by the people all this while should continue by cutting government expenses where the people see as wasteful by the government,” he said, quoted from FMT.

Daim claimed that too much money has been on things that did not benefit the people and not give good returns to the people and the country.

He is of the opinion that the allowance and salary increases for government staff also influence the price of goods.

Furthermore, he said, the minister has failed to explain this issue to the people, causing the people to be angrier with the government.

“Najib, as Minister of Finance, is not wise in managing national expenses,” he said.

Daim, who is also the former Umno Treasurer, claimed that when the country was hit by floods, Najib and the other ministers were on holiday abroad.

“BN is still strong because of support from Malays in rural areas. The Malays should be benefiting from the government,” he advised.

Daim claimed that huge expenses have been spent more to attract the Chinese vote to no avail as the community would not support BN.

Rightly, he added, Najib should take care of the Malays.

“He is following the wants of his advisors too much in determining policies that are detrimental to the Malays themselves,” he said.
