Damansara Utama organises ‘Bestnya Malaysiaku’ art wall contest

PETALING JAYA, 11 Oct: The Damansara Utama State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Service Centre invites the public to participate in the ‘Bestnya Malaysiaku’ (My Malaysia is the best) Art Wall Competition.

Its Assemblyman, Yeo Bee Yin, said that the competition will be done on 22 walls located in the SS2 commercial area.

She said that those interested can participate either individually or in groups and send the art proposal for the wall to be considered.

“Only 22 finalists will be selected to present their proposed artwork on the walls.

“They will be given a maximum of eight days to complete their artwork on 8, 9 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 or 30 November,” she said during a media conference yesterday.

Bee Yin said that anyone interested should fill out the online form at http://bit.ly/bestnyamalaysiaku with the work paper covering the concept desired, the wall selected, the materials needed and the budget.

“We will provide the necessary material with a maximum budget of RM1,500 per wall.

“Participants are free to find their own sponsors or use their own materials such as recycled materials.

“The concept must be original, does not touch on sensitive issues and the organiser reserves the right to propose changes to the design during the work paper phase,” she added.

The closing date for the competition organised jointly with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and Street Art Movement (S.A.M) is on October 27 and selected participants will be announced on October 31.

Meanwhile, the winners will be announced on December 6 to collect the cash prize.

First place will receive RM3,000, second (RM2,000), third (RM1,000), three consolation prizes (RM500) and 16 other participants will receive RM200.
