“DBKL has been urged to pay immediate attention to this matter and to respond to us withing a week,” she said in a press statement today.

She said that the Bukit Gasing Forest is said to be the last green lung in Kuala Lumbur, and has been raised by the Friends of Bukit Gasing (FoBG) since 2000.

Until now, the problem has already been heard by four Mayors of Kuala Lumpur; Datuk Mohmad Shaid Mohd Taufek, Datuk Hakim Borhan, Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail, and Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal.

However, gazetting the Bukit Gasing area in Kuala Lumpur as a forest reserve has yet to be implemented.

Izzah said that DBKL is always giving excuses to cover up for the Prime Minister by allowing him to approve controversial projects.

“My question now is, has the former prime minister broken any law for sacrificing the buffer zone for development?”

“If this is true, the public has the right to ask the current Prime Minister to correct past mistakes,” she said.
