SHAH ALAM, 21 Aug: Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB) has detected diesel contamination at the source of the raw water at the intake of the Bernam River Headwork WTP causing a downtime for the plant since 10.40am yesterday.
In a press statement, SYABAS said that at least 30,831 houses (154,155 users) in the Territory of Hulu Klang and Sabak Bernam face water outage and low water pressure.
The SYABAS General Manager of the Department of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Priscilla Alfred, said that they have informed the State Government, the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) and the authorities about the situation.
She said that the notification was done to enable the parties involved to conduct further investigation, including finding the root of the cause.
“Until this statement was issued, SYABAS has informed that LUAS has sent their team to survey and investigate the root cause regarding the incident, thus working with the plant operators to solve the problem.
“SYABAS cannot predict when the supply of treated water can be channelled back to the users in the affected areas,” she said.
She said that SYABAS will provide emergency water supply through water tankers and existing static tanks to the people according to priorities.
