KUALA LUMPUR, 14 Mar: A conflict broke out at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex at Jalan Duta between the police and PKR Vice-President, Tian Chua’s delegation when he attended court to hear the charges under the 1948 Sedition Act.

The argument broke out when two policemen met with Tian Chua and his lawyer at the court’s canteen complex before the case began.

Both the police expressed that they wanted to hold Tian Chua in the court lockup, however they were prevented by the Batu Member of Parliament’s lawyer, Latheefa Koya.

According to her, Tian Chua need not be detained in the lockup because he was present and ready for the case.

“The purpose for detaining someone before being charged is to ensure that he is present in court. In this case, Tian was already present in court and ready to be prosecuted.

“So why would they want him to he held in lockup, there is no need,” stressed Latheefa while stating that they did not allow Tian Chua to be arrested.

It is understood that Tian Chua will be prosecuted under Section 4 of the Sedition Act following the statement he issued regarding the Lahad Datu case in Sabah on the Twitter social networking site.
