SHAH ALAM, 4 July: The Federal Government and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been urged to clean-up Kuala Lumpur from entertainment centres that are detrimental and demoralising before wanting to purify the city from beggars and people who give charity to beggars.
The former Perlis Mufti, Prof Datuk Dr Asri Zainul Abidin, said that he wants the government to make the city of Kuala Lumpur a city that is safe and blessed.
“Prosper it with modesty and prosperity that reconciles the soul of every visitor.
“Make it a city where every person who enters it feels secure for themselves, their family and their friends,” said Dr Asri, quoted from his Facebook page.
He said that the government must prove that the nation adheres to Islam; therefore the city should also represent prosperity, peace, magnanimity and moral decorum, in accordance with Islamic requirements.
The Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai, Nurul Izzah Anwar, said that the Minister of Federal Territories, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who has ordered for Soup Kitchens to move, is inhumane.
Izzah urged for Tengku Adnan to rectify his extreme error.
The Vice President of PAS, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said that DBKL should help Dapur Jalanan (an NGO) and other NGOs involved in Soup Kitchens and not dismiss them.
He said that if cleanliness is a problem to Tengku Adnan, he should order DBKL to help clean up the area used after the charity activities have finish.
