Each constituency to receive RM600,000 for sports development

BATU CAVES, 2 May: Each State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Service Centre in the state will receive provisions between RM600,000 to RM700,000 for sports development in Selangor.

The Exco for Young Generation Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development, Amirudin Shari, said that from the allocation, RM30,000 must be reserved for the Selangor Sports League (PLUS).

“We will ask them to prepare RM30,000 for each competition in every DUN to organise this PLUS championship.

“Meanwhile, contests at the state level will be fully financed by the state government,” he said at the PLUS Selangor Netball Opening Ceremony for the Batu Caves DUN near here today.

Commenting on the PLUS championship, he said that only three sports are being focused on now, namely netball, basketball, and futsal.

He said that other sports will be implemented in the future based on suitability of time and allocation at the DUNs.

“We want this sports championship to create an element of unity among the community through the participation of each DUN.

“We are also planning to organise this championship every May, in line with the desire to make it a sports month in Selangor,” he said.
