‘Eat, Travel, Write’ to promote Selangor to the world

SHAH ALAM, 11 June: The state government, together with Tourism Selangor, has taken the initiative to organise the ‘Eat, Travel, Write’ programme in the effort to promote Selangor to the world.

The Assistant to the Exco for Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs, Gan Pei Nei, said that it aims to promote state tourism destinations that focus on the two districts of Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor.

He said that the inaugural programme is being held to obtain 30 participants from the local media and among bloggers.

“This time, we will introduce traditional food; Jawa, Minangkabau, Bugis and Mandailing, as well as several others.

“We are also bringing in individuals who are active on social media who are chosen at random on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,” she said in a press conference before the Flag Off at Dataran SUK.

Also present was the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) Deputy Director, AHmad Nazmi Razali.

Among the foreign participants selected are from Canada, the Philippines and Thailand.

The four day and three nights programme will also take participants to visit around the area, in addition to learning the technique of making food available in the district.

It also includes the demonstration of making Cambodian Bahulu, Kuih Rempeyek and Nasi Ambeng, in addition to the paddy festival that is being held with various traditional games taking place.

“They will take pictures and write about the advantages of the destinations and the food there and upload it on social sites or publications.

“This programme will be an inaugural programme because in Selangor, there are other destinations to be highlighted,” she said.
