EKVE: More than 60 strict conditions to ensure that the environment is preserved

GOMBAK, 9 Oct: More than 60 stringent conditions were imposed on the developer of the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) to prevent environmental pollution and the destruction of forest reserves.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that among the conditions imposed includes the ban on building a route through the Klang Gates Dam.

He said that the ban on the route was also issued on the river to protect the water supply in Selangor.

“We have taken this step in a series of discussions with the developers.

“The state government, through the Department of Town and Country Planning (JPBD) will closely monitor this project to ensure that the developer complies with these conditions,” he said during a press conference.

Prior to this, he completed the Zakaria Batu 8 1/2 Mosque Groundbreaking Ceremony in the afternoon.

Elaborating, Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Gombak MP, said that the new route through Ukay Perdana, however received objections from the residents.

“Therefore, a series of discussions with the residents’ associations were held to find a solution to this problem,” he said.
