Flip Flop On Water Issues: Selangor Ready To Expose Peter Chin’s Letters

BESTARI JAYA, 10 Mar: The State Government is prepared to disclose correspondence between the State Government and the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Peter Chin Fah Kui all citizens in Selangor to view.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that he would do the aforementioned in an orderly and responsible fashion through advertisements in newspapers.

He said the matter will be carried out soon after Peter has been said to flip-flop on the issue of restructuring the water industry in the state.

Peter previously claimed that the State Government, through Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB), should have obtained consent from the Water Asset Management Berhad (PAAB) in advance of making an offer to takeover the four concession companies.

Peter said that KDEB’s action to not discuss first with PAAB before linking PAAB in the offer is unreasonable.

Elaborating, Abdul Khalid said that in a response letter sent by the Minister (Peter) informed that the Federal Government welcomed KDEB’s efforts to make the offer for the acquisition.

“I hope that Peter will not flip flop because we have written a letter to him and told him that this process requires the approval of the Federal Government.

“If he does not respond, it means that he is willing to give the approval and if he does not give approval, I will take the people of Selangor to meet with him and question him as to why the approval should not be granted.

“He is a lawyer, he cannot flip flop on his words, I am ashamed for him because he is not from Selangor, he is a Sarawakian, do not shame the people of Sarawak…that a Sarawakian does not want to help in efforts to develop the people. Maybe it can be done so in Sarawak but in Selangor, this cannot happen.

“I will reveal the letters and I will do so in an orderly and responsible manner. I will buy an ad in the newspaper because I know newspapers will not write about this matter, it is better I buy an ad,” he told reporters after officiating the Himpunan Perangsang Bersama Rakyat (Stimulation Assembly With The People) at Dataran Jaya Setia.

On February 20 this year, KDEB made an offer of RM9.65 billion to takeover the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas), Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB), Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (SPLASH) and Konsortium ABASS Sdn Bhd (ABASS).
