Food trucks the ‘reason’ why rubbish in PJ has increased?

PETALING JAYA, 17 June: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has suggested for food trucks to be more responsible in maintaining cleanliness at their operation sites.

The Mayor of MBPJ, Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, said that failure to do so is one of the causes dumping is becoming rampant due to the indifferent attitude of traders because they do not pay for site rental.

“The area is dirty and full of trash left by the traders, giving a negative impression to foreign tourists. Indirectly, it discredits Petaling Jaya and MBPJ.

“MBPJ has already provided some guidelines to be observed and rent payment to traders.

“This is to ensure that food trucks also maintain the cleanliness of the area in line with our objective to make Damansara Uptown clean,” he said during the launch of the Damansara Uptown Bersih Campaign yesterday.

Mohd Azizi said that putting up banners, posters and stickers on lampposts and walls on buildings will be tightened.

“Enforcement will take action against individuals or companies that continue to stubbornly put up illegal posters without the approval of MBPJ. Currently, cleaning work is being actively carried out,” he said.
