Free Market distribution needs to be tightened

SHAH ALAM, 13 June: The organisation of the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) Free Market is a good effort in the move too help recipients, however its implementation method needs to be monitored more closely.

A single mother of four, Rozita Ishak, 55, said that she was at the LZS headquarters since morning but only managed to get a tudung.

She said that no one was controlling the taking of items donated that elderly people like her did not have a chance.

“We listened to the instructions, they asked to go to the side but the younger people finally took everything. There was nothing left for us.

“Normal people also came to take things because it is an open concept. There were also Indonesians, but unfortunately recipients did not get any.

“But I am grateful that LZS has efforts like this. At least it can help people in need like us, thank God,” he said.

Meanwhile, Badrul Hisham Hunimin, 39, praised the efforts by LZS to help recipients, especially in the ailing economy at the moment.

“With the goods and services tax (GST), it is not enough to cover the needs of me and my wife and five young children.

“So, it is good that there are initiatives like this today. My focus in getting my children’s needs such as clothing,” he said.
