SHAH ALAM, 9 Jan: The Selangor Children’s Heritage Foundation (YAWAS) asked all parties, especially government-linked companies (GLC) to come forward and provide welfare assistance to YAWAS through Core Schemes, particularly the ‘Donor Advised Fund’.
The General Manager, Mohd Nor Mohd Zin, said that it is not wrong for a state government subsidiary company to share income to help the less fortunate children of Tawas.
In fact, he said that the donors of the Core Scheme have the opportunity to enjoy income tax rebates from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
He said that so far, the Core Scheme has received donations amounting to RM15,574.85 since it was launched on January 1, 2014.
“We are expecting more donors to help these Tawas children in education development, human capital development and welfare,” he told Selangor Kini during the Donor Advised Fund donation event.
Mohd Nor said that he will also propose several recommendations to the Chief Minister in ensuring the welfare of Tawas children continues.
“We will take this recommendation to the Chief Minister, particularly for this programme because it is very meaningful for Tawas children.
“Therefore, we sincerely hope GLC can assist through their corporate social responsibility,” he said.
The Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (Tawas) was introduced by TAWAS as its newest product specially for individuals or companies who wish to donate to the development of Tawas members.
In 2012, YAWAS secured the approval for tax exemption under subsection 44 (6) ACP 1967 from the Malaysian Ministry of Finance for a period of five years until 2016.
The rebate eligible to be claimed by the IRB is seven percent from the aggregate income of an individual and 10 percent of the aggregate income for companies.
