Halimah: CM Briefed Selangor Exco Before Signing Water MoU

SHAH ALAM, 6 Mar: Today, the Selangor Executive Council refuted the statement by the PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli, which said that the water asset restructuring MoU between the Selangor Government and the Federal Government was allegedly not transparent because it was not discussed during the Exco meeting.

Dr Halimah Ali said that the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, always briefs the Exco from time to time regarding the negotiation over the past few years.

“In fact, Excos, together with the Chief Minister, were present during the signing of the agreement at Putrajaya on 26 February,” she said.

“(It is) not without the Excos agreement, but (we are) OK (with) the decision given by the Federal Government through a short notice,” she told Malaysia Kini today, referring to Iskandar Abdul Samad, Elizabeth Wong, V Ganabatirau, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, Abdul Khalid and herself.

The Chairman for the Standing Committee for Health, Entrepreneur Development, Science, Technology and Innovation said that the Federal Government previously did not give positive feedback on the negotiations.

Therefore, she said, when the Federal Government agreed to allow the restructuring to be carried out, Khalid too the decision to sign the MoU to avoid them from changing their mind.

“The state is worried (the Federal Government) will change their mind, that is why Tan Sri (Abdul Khalid) made the decision,” he said.
