Hasnul Promises to Solve the Kuala Langat Taxi Terminal Problem

BANTING, 23 May: Taxi operators at the Kuala Langat Taxi Terminal can heave a sigh of relief as Morib Assemblyman, Hasnul Baharuddin is endeavouring to help solve the problem of lack of passengers over the past five years.

This lack of customers is due to the location of the terminal which is relatively isolated and far away from the bus-stop.

This situation led to widespread activities of illegal taxis who transport passengers indiscriminately.

According to Hasnul, he will bring the matter to be discussed during the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) sitting so that a specific action can be taken immediately.

He explained that he suggested for the State Government to take back the land from private developers, Ehsan Istimewa Sdn Bhd, to be redeveloped.

“If possible, the State Government will take back the land because the developer has obviously failed to fulfill the promise that eventually burdened taxi operators and the residents in general,” he said.

Previously, the former Chief Minister, Dr Khir Toyo granted the three acres of land to the private company, which is claimed to be his crony, to be developed.

However, the developers only built a bazaar, several shops and stalls but did not divert the taxi terminal to the nearby bus terminal.

In the meantime, representatives of the Kuala Langat Taxi Association, Anwar Sidek, 34, said that he and other taxi operators have already held several dialogues with the Land Transport Commission (SPAD), the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and other agencies but there have been no action taken to date.

“In the past, there were 80 members of our association but now, there are only 50 people because many could not earn a living because of this problem,” he said.
