“This programme means a lot to us and is a good start in caring for the welfare of former soldiers who have sacrificed for the peace of the country.

“The measure taken should be commended and must continue,” he said after the launch of Jejak Wira today.

Speaking about his name, he said that it is difficult to ascertain why it is so but the interest is profound towards the military world and it is perhaps no coincidence that the name was given by his parents.

Zainuddin Ahmad, 53, also from Ampang, said that the programme is a recognition to veterans who have made many sacrifices for the country.

“I am pleased and honoured to attend this programme because it is in appreciation of me and my friends.

“At least our fight for the country is seen by the government and everyone,” said Zainuddin who served 23 years in the ATM.

The event was organised by the Selangor PAS and was launched by the Selangor PAS Commissioner, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, who is also a state Exco member.

Also present was State Government Exco, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi; Hulu Langat MP, Dr Che Rosli Che Mat; Bangi Assemblyman, Shafie Ngah; Dusun Tua Assemblyman, Razali Hassan; and the Lembah Jaya Assemblyman, Khasim Abdul Aziz.
