KDEB contributes RM87,420 to help students, repair mosques

SHAH ALAM, 30 Sept: Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB) contributed RM83,420 to 28 students and postgraduates studying at institutes of higher learning within and outside the country.

The KDEB Chief Religious Officer, Zaharudin Muhammad, said that the recipients comprises of diploma students, undergraduates and postgraduates, some married and are very needy to sustain their families and pay the cost of education.

In fact, a recipient has a child suffering from blood infection and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, while another couple are being assisted after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle accident.

“We sympathise with students who are very committed and determined to finish their studies despite facing very trying circumstances. Due to sympathy, we have allocated almost 90% of the money from the business Zakat to help students” he said in a statement recently.

Each student received contributions between RM2,000 to RM5,000. Seven diploma students and undergraduates who are studying full-time in Yemen, one in Jordan and one who is married in the United Kingdom received contributions through the mail.

Apart from that, KDEB also contributed RM4,000 for repairing dilapidated mosques.

The provisions of this contribution is part (38%) of the business Zakat for 2013 amounting to RM826,455 which has been given to the Selangor Zakat Board.
